Welcome to Springburn Harriers!
Springburn Harriers are a small, friendly, but thriving athletics club based in Bishopbriggs. We hope you will enjoy all the benefits that belonging to an athletics club will bring. We cater for all ages and abilities from ten years and up. We are affiliated to Scottish Athletics, East Dunbartonshire Sports Council, Glasgow Sports Council and have close links with Active Schools to bring the benefits of athletic training to as many school children as possible.
Please look on our website: www.springburnharriers.co.uk for lots of useful information and club contacts. We meet at Huntershill Training Grounds, Bishopbriggs at 7.15pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. A group also meets at The Leisuredrome, Bishopbriggs at 9.30am on a Sunday for a longer run and other various groups meet on weekday mornings for various lengths of runs, so there are lots of opportunities for you to get involved.
We organise various events throughout the year to help develop our club – coaching forums, external speakers and training weekends to name but a few.
We have a rapidly growing, newly formed, junior section enjoying success at local events and looking forward to seeing this at district and national level. We organise a few juniors’ specific events – junior distances of our Canal Canter in August and our inaugural Junior Jack races this March.
The juniors are indoors at present for the winter season and meet at All Saints, Barmulloch on a Tuesday from 6pm – 7pm.
On Thursdays the juniors meet at Huntershill from 6.30pm – 7.15pm for an endurance session. The over 12’s go out on road runs and the under 12’s do track or grass based endurance runs under the guidance of qualified jog leaders.
We have UKA qualified coaches present at the Tuesday sessions and details of the Tuesday sessions are posted on the website. Our coaches and captains agree the sessions on a quarterly basis so that we have specific goals to train for.
Any questions or issues can be raised by email to email@example.com
If you have a child 10 years or older who would like to join us then please contact firstname.lastname@example.org before bringing them to the club, so that we can advise you if there is a space for them and give you more information about what we do.
You can join us via Entry Central. The membership fee for 2014/2015 is £40 for adults and £20 for juniors. We hope you enjoy being a member of our club and look forward to seeing you at the sessions, runs and races!
